About Us:

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 250 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 250,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We're Seeking:

SWD Inc. is seeking a proactive Quality Engineer who can own internal and external nonconformances end‑to‑end — from containment and communication through root cause, corrective action, and documentation. You’ll play a key role in protecting customer satisfaction by coordinating cross‑functional problem solving, updating records, communicating solutions, supporting APQP new part reviews, and preparing customer deliverables such as certifications and PPAP documentation. This is a highly collaborative, customer‑facing role where strong communication, organization, and analytical thinking are essential. 

Starting Salary Range: $72,000-$85,000

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Address internal and external non-conformances
    • Hold unsatisfactory orders and maintain customer satisfaction
    • Form teams that resolve unsatisfactory orders and develop prevention strategies to circumvent conflicts in quality.
    • Update records and notify the customer of established solutions
  • Conduct cross-functional reviews with department(s) requiring a new part reviews (APQP)
  • Generate / edit certifications that are to be sent to customers
  • Generate PPAP documentation that is to be sent to the customer 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment 
  • Practice safe work habits, following outlined policies and procedure
  • Reviewing and comprehending Shop Orders
  • Be aware of, and help maintain, SWD Inc. Company's policy and procedures, including the quality system as defined by ISO-9001, ISO-14001, and ISO-17025 and outlined in the SWD Inc.'s quality, environmental and laboratory systems policy, and procedure manuals. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • At least 2 years of customer service or office experience
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Excellent reading and writing skills in English, in addition to basic math skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Capability to identify and resolve issues through analytical thinking
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
