Welder & Fabricator - 2nd Shift

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 200 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 165,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We're Seeking:
SWD Inc. is in the process of adding 3 new lines to our production departments and is expanding our Addison, IL. facility. That means we are growing, and growing fast! We are seeking a full-time Welder. This full-time role must also be able to work weekends!
- 2nd shift: 3 pm-11 pm, starting at $18.75/hr
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production line equipment. In specific, repairing paint baskets, paint trays, plating barrels, etc.
• Fill out work orders using the CMMS software
• Prioritize work orders based on level of importance
• Order material for projects
• Inspect equipment and production lines for signs of wear or damage
• Communicate frequently with managers regarding prioritized work orders
• Communicate frequently with maintenance team members regarding prioritized work orders.
• Knowledgeable of welding and fabrication equipment
• Show strong ability to weld metal parts with either tig or arc
• Show ability to fabricate and modify equipment using hand tools, such as saws, drills, grinders, lathes, and bridgeports
• Wear and maintain the proper PPE
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Practice safe work habits, following outlined policies and procedure
• Operate a forklift, following all required safety and operational procedures
• Reviewing and comprehending Shop Orders
• Be aware of SWD Inc. Company's policy and procedures, including the quality system as defined by ISO-9001, ISO-14001, and ISO-17025 and outlined in the SWD Inc.'s quality, environmental and laboratory systems policy, and procedure manuals.
Education/Work Experience
• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• Trade or Technical school preferred
• 2-4 years experience in a previous position
• Welding and fabrication experience required
• Manufacturing experience is a plus
• Welding certification is a plus

• Able to navigate computer programs and digital technology

• Handle heavy equipment
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Physical stamina and strength
• Attention to detail
• Bilingual (Spanish in particular) is a plus
• Proficiency with welding
• Proficiency with multiple types of tools and fabrication equipment
Physical Requirements:
• Regularly required to stand for 8 hours
• Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
• Regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to communicate verbally and in writing
• Regularly required to lift or move up to 40 pounds
• Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to focus
